Omega Chi EpsilonEpsilon Chapter The University of Texas at Austin February 15th 2008
Thank you URS Enjoy
How it all started… • Omega Chi Epsilon had its inception at the University of Illinois in the Spring of 1931. The idea for such an organization originated with Mr. F. C. Howard. With the counsel of Professors Keys and Krase, A. Garrell Deem, Ethan M. Stifle and John W. Bertetti undertook to develop the idea. They drew up a set of By-Laws, designed a key and petitioned the Council of Administration for a charter, which was subsequently granted. They thus became the Alpha Chapter of Omega Chi Epsilon.
Our purpose • 1. RECOGNITION to recognize excellence in chemical engineering • 2. INVESTIGATION to promote original investigation and innovation in chemical engineering • 3. OXE at UT: The Epsilon Chapter The beginning • In 1941, James Franklin Adams (B.S., 1942) successfully petitioned for an Omega Chi Epsilon Chapter at the University of Texas at Austin. The Epsilon Chapter, the fifth chapter of Omega Chi Epsilon, was then born. Adams served as the first president. Two UT faculty members have served as National Presidents for Omega Chi Epsilon, Dr. William A. Cunningham, President 1959-68 and Dr. Kenneth Kobe, President 1957-59. Drs. Kobe and Dr. Howard Rase, both from UT, have served as past National Treasurers of Omega Chi Epsilon.
