TAKS 2012 All Students
AYP 2012 10th grade, Hispanic, Econ Dis, White, Sped, LEP
The shining STAAR has arrived!! Senate Bill 1031 replaces TAKS with STAAR (State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness) EOC • Eng I Rd, Eng II Rd, • Eng III Rd • Eng I Wtg, Eng II Wtg, Eng III Wtg • Alg I, Alg II, Geom • Bio, Chem, Physics • US Hist, W Hist, W Geo • Students must take all 15 EOC assessments • In addition to cumulative score, student must meet or exceed Level II Satisfactory Performance (Level III for DAP) for Eng III Rd, English III Wtg, and Alg II
So, how’s it going to work? • Students must score at least 1875 on Eng III reading, Eng III writing to graduate. Reading and writing test administered over two days. • Students must earn a cumulative score of 11,250 for English. • Students must score 3500 on Alg II to graduate. • Students must earn a cumulative score of 10,500 for math science and social studies. Math and science will have an increased number of open-ended questions. • Four hour time limit on STAAR EOC assessment. Test will count 15% of final grade.
How will scores be rated? Level I – Unsatisfactory Academic Performance Level II – Satisfactory Academic Performance* (passing standard) Level III – Advanced Academic Performance Students who do not receive EOC score, will be assigned an Incomplete.
Also….. Recommended High School Program requires that students take all 15 EOC tests. Students must meet the cumulative score in each of the 4 areas. Students must achieve Level II on Alg II, Eng III Rd, Eng III Wtg.
Edgar scores: 1900 for Eng I reading, 1650 for Eng I writing – Fails Eng I 1950 for Eng II reading, 1750 for Eng II writing – Passes Eng II 1975 for Eng III reading, 1890 for Eng III writing– Passes Eng III Cumulative score is: 11,115 (needs 11,250) 1875 x 6 tests = 11,250 Cindy scores: 3600 for Alg I – Passes Alg I 3900 for Geom – Fails Geom 4100 for Alg II – Passes Alg II Cumulative score is: 11,600 (needs 10,500) 3500 x 3 tests – 10,500
Students can re-take EOC to improve their cumulative total, even if they scored at Satisfactory or Advanced, but course grade will not be recalculated. If student fails a course, course grade will be recalculated after student takes EOC again.
Bottom Line…. Let’s make sure that everything we do leads to student success! Let’s make sure that everything we do is at the highest possible level. Let’s make sure we maintain an intensified focus at all times. Let’s make sure we don’t allow anyone to be the weak link – that weak link defines all of us!
