  2. Adjectives ending in –ingand -ed This book is interesting. I am interested in it. The snake is frightening. I am frightened. The news was surprising. I am surprised. The movie was boring. I am bored. The experience was thrilling. I was thrilled.

  3. These adjectives come from the participle form of a verb. INTEREST is a verb. The past participle of interest is interested. The present participle of interest is interesting (and is used with the verb be in the progressive tenses). These participle forms are often used as adjectives in English.

  4. The snake is frightening.

  5. The girl is frightened.

  6. The military cemetery is depressing.

  7. The woman is depressed.

  8. What other adjectives do you know that end in “-ing” and/or “-ed”? Work with a partner and make a new list. The team with the longestlist of different adjectives wins!
