Recent news for CINC • Recipient of a Federal Broadband Grant totaling 11.5 million. This was grant was applied for by CINC through UW Extension. (Press Release PDF) • The grant will add more than 200 miles of fiber-optic cable and 1,300 square miles of wireless (WIMax) coverage for the Chippewa Valley. • We are one of five communities around the state receiving grants which totaled 32 million for the state of Wisconsin.
What this grant means for CFSD? • Continued improvements for our existing infrastructure. • Continued cost savings • Use of a WiMax wireless signal within our educational community. Use to bridge the digital divide?
What have we learned? • We have and will continue to have substantial savings as a school district. • We are collaborating with other partners within our communities to share resources and costs. Relationships are built. • Control and flexibility. • A decision made by the board and district displayed great vision and foresight. • Confidence to take this next step.
