Template Tips • Reinventing the wheel • Before starting do a Google search to see if someone else has already created one and made it available. • Many Medicare Locals have websites which have comprehensive lists of templates. If no Best Practice version use the Medical Director one. • Importing a Template • Refer to the document ‘BP_FAQ-Import a document template' for details on how to import a template into Best Practice. • Template Margins • Keep the left margin no less than 10mm to stop data being cut off on the left when printing. • Font size • Don't be scared to use a size 10 font - it is surprisingly readable on forms and gives you a much better look to the template. Template Tips • Using tables • Can assist with the layout of the document. • Take care however when using template fields that themselves become tables. Examples of these fields are: past medical history template; allergies, current and past medications; immunisations, observations, attendance dates, etc. • Recommend that these template fields are not put into tables or at least make the table one cell wide with a full page width and all margins set to zero using Table > Properties. • Using Tabs in table cells • The <Tab> key moves cursor between cells in a table. • To insert a tab between data in a cell, use <Shift> <Tab> instead. Template Tips • Spacing between each field. • Click on the template field to highlight it and then press the right arrow so that cursor moves to the space after the field. • Deleting fields • To delete a template field, click on the field - the cursor should change to an 'Up arrow' and the field will be highlight in grey. Press the 'Delete' button on your keyboard • Order of fields • Order of custom fields in the template is the order that they will appear on the data entry screen. • Try to keep things linear down the page to make the data entry flow better. • Spreading across end of page • Long questions spread a cell but when used cell size reduces to fit the text entered Bp Sunshine Summit 2014
