  6. Ex. 1: Solve 4x – 5 = 15 4x – 5 = 15 +5 +5 (Add 5 to both sides) 4x = 20 (Simplify) 4 4 (Divide both sides by 4) x = 5 (Simplify)

  7. Ex. 1: Solve 2x – 9 = 17 2x – 9 = 17 +9 +9 (Add 9 to both sides) 2x = 26 (Simplify) 2 2 (Divide both sides by 2) x = 13 (Simplify)
