  2. Minutes of Previous Meeting • Minutes of CB Meeting 29 October 2002 • Approved? • Actions: • SLL to write to PPARC about long term computing support. Done – no reply. (GridPP2 bid will make this more explicit). • SLL to summarise losses in Grants round. A few computing posts lost. No evidence of specific targeting of computing jobs. GridPP CB 19 February 2003

Matters Arising • Successful second EU DataGrid Review • Tier2 Centres • All 4 regions presented at recent GridPP Collaboration meeting and have submitted EoIs • 4 x 0.5 FTE from 1 September 2003 • Plans to GridPP by 1 May 2003 • Hopefully more posts in GridPP2 • Risk Register • First version complete, for next Oversight Committee • Experimental Deliverables • being iterated • JCSR bid to JISC • Middleware support through Grid Support Centre GridPP CB 19 February 2003

GridPP2 Future Priorities • Continue supporting Tier-1/A staff • Continue ramp up of Tier-1/A hardware • Support for Tier-2 staff • Complimentary to University funding • Continued support for Applications development • Through rolling grants? • Continued support for Middleware development • Including Framework VI etc • Ramp up of Tier-2 hardware • From University funding (SRIF etc)? • Continued support of CERN staff • Continued ramp up of CERN hardware GridPP CB 19 February 2003

Likely PPARC Call • PPARC e-Science Centres • Development and deployment of computing centres for the LHC experiments including: • UK National Tier-1 Centre • Local or Regional Tier-2 Centres • Astronomical Virtual Observatory data centres • Collaborative software developments with CERN and ESO • Applications Development • The Grid enabled applications software for the LHC experiments, including reconstruction, simulation and analysis software required for full exploitation of the first LHC data in 2007 • Data Processing pipelines .... in Astronomy GridPP CB 19 February 2003

GridPP2 Bids • Bids probably due by end of May 2003 • We intend to address funding through to LHC exploitation: • GridPP1 2001 - 2004 • GridPP2 2004 - 2007 • Exploitation 2007 – onwards • Envisage one main GridPP2 bid plus several separate bids from Experiments and possibly Tier-2 centres GridPP CB 19 February 2003
