  1. Voice and SMS Working Group C-RIET CDG International Roaming Team (IRT) Voice and SMS Working Group Macau 20 March 2007 Libby Mackay lmackay@qualcomm.com

  2. Why do C-RIET • The challenge • Not all carriers provide roaming coverage maps to their roaming partners in the most usable format with the most valuable information • This limits the ability for a carrier to fully market and support roaming coverage • Revenue is left on the table or wasted • Maps are not the only thing that need to be exchanged • Roaming Partner Qualification Forms • Technical Data Sheets

  3. The Answer • Build an on line tool to easily exchange documents among carriers • Carriers upload files and grant permission to those they want to be able to download those files • CDG doesn’t manipulate the format of the files • Carriers decide which documents they want to upload

  11. Next Steps For the Repository • We have the test repository in place • A small trial with a few carriers was conducted finishing in early March • Very positive feedback from users • Several enhancements are in the works to provide additional functionality mainly focused on security and increased usability • Once the next round of enhancements are complete the repository can go into production

  12. Enhancements • File access requests • Should these go to the person who uploaded the file or the company POC? • Enhancements • Security features • Remove email addresses and replace with forms to email contacts (spam protection) • Create a profile for carriers which can be saved to avoid having to grant permission by carrier for each file. • Reduce file clutter on first page and provide additional view options.

  13. Next Steps For Mapping • It is time to address the details of mapping formats • Short term goal • Create a set of requirements for coverage exchange between carriers so carriers can immediately begin to provide standardized mapping information to partners • Long term goal • Create an on line coverage repository where carriers can access their partners roaming coverage information in the agreed upon standardized format

  14. Check it out • If you would like to participate in the trial contact lmackay@qualcomm.com • To join the subgroup contact Libby at lmackay@qualcomm.com
