  14. That’s Great! But… We don’t have a program in my division. I have a lot on my plate already. How do we get our corps involved? Do I need a grant to “Do Something?”

  15. You don’t need a “program”… What other organizations are combatting human trafficking in your division? Your city? Your corps? What needs do they have? What are their efforts and how can Salvationists participate? Is there a Task Force or advocacy group that is in need of help? FA Florida Abolitionist – SA Saving Threads. Start a new awareness activity as inspired

  16. Coalitions & Task Forces • Do you know where they are? • If your community doesn’t have one, look for groups that fight against or work to end, • pornography, • violence against women, or • homeless youth, • gang reduction.

  17. Too Busy? • Who isn’t? • Who has an interest? • Who wants to “help?” • Got an intern? • Does the Volunteer Coordinator know of this need?

Advocate • Write your elected officials. • Call elected officials. • Write craigslist and other shopping sites that sell people. • Write editors of newspaper. • Join a taskforce. • Organize to enforce zoning laws and to close strip clubs and "massage parlors." • Write articles and/or letters of opinion for local papers. • Write an article for the War Cry, YS Magazine, Caring, or New Frontier, Sprit, Central Connection, or Priority. • Know potential state laws. • Know potential community laws. • Provide legal help.

  26. Please Tell DHQ What You Did!!! If at a corps program you emphasis or highlight Human Trafficking, Please, Please, Please tell Your Social Service Secretary or other designated person. That person should also report it to the Territorial Representative to the North American Anti Trafficking Council.

  30. Enhanced Collaborative Model to Combat Human Trafficking. The Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) and the Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) are pleased to announce the release of a Fiscal Year (FY) 2012 competitive solicitationThis FY 2012 program will fund Enhanced Collaborative Model Task Force sites established to take a comprehensive approach to combating all forms of human trafficking—sex trafficking and labor trafficking of foreign nationals and U.S. citizens (male and female, adults and minors). BJA is expected to make awards to support law enforcement agencies to coordinate the goals, objectives, and activities of the entire task force in close collaboration with the local U.S. Attorney’s Office and a victim service provider partner. OVC will make awards to support victim service organizations to coordinate the provision of a comprehensive array of culturally and linguistically appropriate services to all trafficking victims identified within the geographic area impacted by the task force.
