INDICATIONS • Pt; with few remaining ant: or/& post: teeth are indicated for extraction. • Physically & mentally stable pt: • Social personality • Economically affordable
CONTRAINDICATIONS • Pt; with poor general health • Terminally ill pt: • Post-irradiate jaws • Blood disorders • Psychological disorders • Uncooperative pt:
ADVANTAGES • Serve as a splint i:e reduces pain, control bleeding, protect the healing socket from trauma. • Psychological advantage( pt: is spared from inconvenience & stress of edentulousness). • Pt: regains function faster e.g: speech & mastication. • More compatibility with oral surroundings as tissues have not yet changed position. • Less change in facial appearance • Natural teeth aid in vertical relation positioning & selecting artificial teeth. • Less TMJ disturbances. • Easy to refit by relining.
DISADVANTAGES • The technique is precise & time consuming. • Additional appointments • Additional cost. • No try- in for ant: teeth.
