  1. Suppose you had to evaluate which of these books would be the most entertaining for your class to read? …and you could only spend 30 seconds per book to do it! What is it that would make one book stand out from all of the others?
  2. Looking for employment can be just as difficult. However, this time, YOUare the ‘book’! And most interviewers will spend no more than 30 seconds lookingat your resume and deciding if they feel that you are a serious candidate for the job. Plus, your competition is even more intense as numerous other skilled persons vie for the same position that you seek.
  3. So, when you’re out searching for that dream job what is it that will set you apart…. From the Crowd?
  4. Just having the skills that employers want is not enough…. You must, also, be able to effectively convincethe interviewerthat you have the skills they are looking for! It is often not the person who has the best skills that gets the job, but the one who interviews best!

  8. The Resume The resume is a summary of your experiences and accomplishments. It is the means by which you present yourself as a qualified applicant for employment. The basic parts of a resume are: Personal Information Objective Education Experience References
  9. The Resume Include: Name Address Phone number Email address Personal Information Do not include information such as: Age, gender, SS#. Caution: Have an “adult” email address. Be sure that none of the web sites or social networks to which you may belong contain anything that might be considered offensive.
  10. The Resume Objective An ‘objective’ is a statement oriented specifically to the job that you are seeking to fill.
  11. The Resume A list of schools you have attended or technical certificate courses you have taken. Include any honors, awards, diploma’s or certificates that you have achieved. Education

  15. The Cover Letter The cover letter accompanies the resume for the purpose of introducing yourselfto your prospective employer. It should briefly state that you have the skills that the employer wants; and motivate them to give your resume a closer look. Personal Information
