Forming a team • Max 5 quizzers per team • Can change teams each tournament (except district finals) • Beginner – 8 or younger on Jan 1/18 • Junior – 11 or younger on Jan 1/18 • Beginner may choose to quiz as Junior • No minimum age to be quizzer
Tournament setup • Double elimination matrix • Two tables at the front • Red on the left, yellow on the right • R1 R2 R3 Y1 Y2 Y3 • Min 2, max 3 quizzers start each quiz • Coaches & spare quizzers sit behind quizzers • Electronic buzzer system • Quizmaster, score keeper, judges • Scorekeeper tracks scores for teams & quizzers
Quiz setup • Two teams quiz “at the board” • Matrix shows what teams compete when • Teams start with 10 pts (on time) • Each quizzer has a buzzer • Quizmaster asks question; 5 sec to hit buzzer • Quizzer hits the buzzer; 30 sec to answer • If answer correct, team gets points • If answer incorrect, team loses ½ points • Interrupt technique – finish question, give answer • If incorrect, other team has chance to answer • Two 60-sec timeouts per quiz
