  3. Aims of this Evening By the end of this evening you should understand:- • Exactly what we mean by ‘A-Levels’ and how universities use them to asses students • What A-Levels students at DCZH can and must study • How to select an appropriate A-Level subject combination

  5. The A-Level system • Originally a UK qualification • Taken in the final two years before university • Split into two parts • Year 1 = AS • Year 2 = A2 • AS + A2 combined is an A-Level • An accepted qualification in universities in US, UK, Australia and over 100 other countries

  9. The A-Level system at DCZH • All AS students must do • 4 hours of English • 1 hour of PE • 1 hour of Mandarin • 3 or 4 AS subjects (5 hours a week per subject) • Students with 5 IGCSEs at grade B or better* must study 4 AS subject, other students choose 3 subjects
