Fever 1793 Written by Laurie Halse Anderson By Jess Landi
The beginning of the fever. • In the very beginning of the book things are normal in Philadelphia. • Until the morning that Polly died of a random fever. • Polly worked for the Cooks.
When Mother Cook got sick. • Mattie wasn’t allowed to go by the river because her mother thought she might get the fever. • Then her mother ended up sick in bed with the fever. • Mattie was sent into the country with her grandfather.
On the road. • On there way to the country Mattie became sick with the fever. • She was sent to a hospital and slowly got better. • Her and her grandfather returned home to find her mother had left.
On the first night. • On her first night home with her grandfather two men broke into her house. • The men tried to rob what ever was left of her things. • Her grandfather came down to see them hitting Mattie and attacked them with his gun from the war.
After the fight. • Mattie chased the men away but when she returned home her grandfather was dead on the floor. • She went looking for Elisa and found a small girl that she took in as her own. • Once she found Elisa she stayed with her until the first frost.
After the frost. • Mattie reopened her family’s coffee shop. • Elisa became Mattie’s partner and helped her run the shop. • Mattie’s mother returned home frail but alive.
