  2. Chimerical • Unreal; imaginary; magically unreal • In an attempt to discover the Fountain of Youth, the group of tourists developed a chimerical plan that took them on a plane, a boat, a train and into an inactive volcano.

  3. Relinquish • To give up; put aside; let go of • After repeated requests and numerous threats, the dictator relinquished control of the country in an attempt to avoid a revolution.

  4. Palpable • Readily or easily seen or perceived; tangible; capable of being touched. • The palpablepossibility of calamity is what makes adventure exciting.

  5. Enticement • to lead on by exciting hope or desire; allure; • They were enticed westward by dreams of gold.

  6. Minutiae • Precise details; small or trifling matters • As intrigued as I am with clocks, the idea of working with that level of minutiae sounds horrible.

  7. Ardor • intense devotion, eagerness, or enthusiasm • There is no doubting the ardorof the connection between Victor and Elizabeth.

  8. Chastise • To criticize severely • The students were chastised for their obvious lack of effort on completing their homework.

  9. Vacillate • to waver in mind or opinion; be indecisive or irresolute • His tendency to vacillate makes it impossible for him to make a quick decision.

  10. Docile • readily trained or taught; teachable due to an obedient nature • After having worked with the wild stallion, the trainer found working with the docile old dog easy to work with.

  11. Dirge • a funeral song or tune, or one expressing mourning in commemoration of the dead. • The audience was all brought to tears during the performance of the melodic dirge commemorating their fallen leader.
