CBSE Has Introduced Substantial Modifications To CBSE Exam Pattern For Classes 11 And 12 DESCRIPTION The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has made significant changes to the CBSE Exam Pattern for Classes 11 and 12 beginning with the 2024-25 academic year. The exams will include more competency-based questions to test students' ability to apply concepts in real-world scenarios. CBSE implemented these changes to coincide with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The CBSE Class 11 and Class 12 Board Exam 2025 will include more application-based questions than theoretical topics. Approximately 50% of the questions in the CBSE Exam will assess students' practical knowledge. According to the most recent information, CBSE confirmed that the exam format for Classes 9 and 10 will remain unchanged. This decision was made to ensure consistency across different grades. Furthermore, the quantity of constructed response questions has greatly decreased. The percentage drop for such questions, including short and long-form answers, ranges from 40 to 30%. Implementation Of Competency Based Education Discussing the importance of application-based education, CBSE Director (Academics) Joseph Emanuel stated that the board, under the National Education Policy 2020, has taken a number of steps toward implementing Competency-Based Education in schools, including aligning assessments to competencies, developing exemplar resources for teachers and students, and continuously building teacher capacity.
He stated that the board's primary goal was to build an educational ecosystem that would shift away from rote memorization and toward learning that focuses on developing students' creative, critical, and systems thinking capacities in order to address the challenges of the twenty-first century. In addition, the CBSE board is working to integrate assessment and evaluation methods with NEP 2020 for the academic year 2024-25. Joseph further stated that the percentage of Competency-Based Questions on the question papers has been changed. Students can consult the official website for the most up-to-date information.
