THE PHANTOM TOLLBOTH BY: REBECCA & BRIANNA
SUMMARY In the Phantom Tollbooth, by Norton Juster, a boy named Milo is always bored and doesn’t know what to do until……. he comes home from school and finds a tollbooth in his bedroom. On the tollbooth there is a note that says, ”TO MILO, WHO HAS PLENTY OF TIME.” Beside the tollbooth there is a little car. Milo doesn’t know what to do, so he decides to hop in. The tollbooth asks Milo where he would like to go. Milo isn’t sure what to say so the tollbooth says, “Take a look at your map.” Milo chooses to go to Dictionopolis, a place where words are honored.
SUMMARY So, Milo puts his coin in the slot and is on his way to Dictionopolis. As he is driving he comes across Expectations, the land of what people expect. Milo is feeling a little tired so he decides to take a nap. When he wakes up he isn’t paying attention, takes a wrong turn and ends up in the Doldrums, a place where nothing gets done.

Then Milo, Tock and the Humbug go on their way to Digitopolis, a place where numbers are honored, to ask the Mathmagician if they can rescue Rhyme and Reason, the lost princesses. WHY WE RECOMMEND THIS BOOK We recommend this book to people who are advanced readers and to people who are able to understand puns well. We rate this book 4 out of 5 stars because it is a little hard to understand because of all the puns. The words have more than one meaning. We like it because it is interesting and easy to picture it in our mind. It is a really good book.
TOLLBOOTHS A tollbooth is where you pay to drive on a toll road. Sometimes the tollbooth takes a picture of your car and then in a week or two, you will get a bill. The money you pay goes to the owner of the toll road for repairs.
