  1. POWER EFFICIENT ESCELATOR FROM:- PARAS AGARWAL EC(FINAL YEAR)

  2. CONTENT-: • WHAT IS ESCELATOR • WHAT IS POWER EFFICIENT ESCELATOR • CIRCUIT DIAGRAM • COMPONENT REQUIRED • ADVANTAGE

  3. WHAT IS ESCELATOR • An escalator is a moving staircase – a conveyor transport device for carrying people between floors of a building. • The device consists of motor-driven chain of individual, linked steps that move up or down on tracks, allowing the step treads to remain horizontal. • Escalators are used around the world in places where elevators would be impractical. • Principal areas of usage include department store ,shopping mall, airport, transit system, convention center, hotels, and public buildings

  4. Basic Specifications Installation: indoorWorking hours: 15 hours per dayStep width: 600/800/1000 millimetersHorizontal steps: two/threeSpeed: 0.5 meter per secondCapacity: 4500/6750/9000 persons per hourPower supply: AC 3-phase, 50 or 60HZLighting supply: AC single-phase, 50 or 60HZ

  5. WHAT IS POWER EFFICIENT ESCALATOR >AN ESCALATOR IS MOVING STAIRCASE . • >IT MOVING COUNTINOUSLY EITHER PEOPLE USE IT OR NOT. SO THEIR GREAT LOSS OF THE POWER • TO SAVE THE POWER WE USE TWO SENSOR IN IT AT STARTING AND ENDING POINT MAIN OBJECTIVE TO USE THE SENSOR IS THAT IT NOT RUN COUNTINOUSLY IT RUN THEN WHEN WE WANT TO USE >WHEN SENSOR SENSE START ESCELATOR WHEN IT STOP SENSING IT STOP THE ESCALATOR

  6. >for escalators, your average shopping mall unit - which has a 7.5 horsepower motor, rises 15 feet, and is kept running 14 hours a day, six days a week - might use about 7,500 kilowatt-hours of electricity in a year. >An escalator that runs all day and all night in a convention center or hotel - say, a 20-foot-high unit with a 20-horsepower motor - would use roughly 31,000 kWh annually. >A continuously running escalator of the kind you'd find in airports or subway stations - 35 feet high with a 40 horsepower motor - would use about 60,000 kWh annually.

  7. The amount of energy used and the savings potential According to A statistics there are 75’000 escalators and moving walks installed in india • 75% of the escalators are installed in commercial buildings, the remaining 25% being in public transportation facilities. Situation Energy per year Current situation 904GWh With 28% saving potential 649GWh Energy Saved 254GWh

  8. COMPONENT REQUIRED • MICROCONTROLLER 89C51 • DC GEAR MOTOR 50 RPM • NE 555 IC • IR LED • PHOTO DIODE • LM 7805 • CRYSTOL OSCILLATOR • VARIABLE RESISTANCE 3K • PCB • CAPACITOR • ALUMINIUM

  9. MICRO CONTROLER 8951 Ø 4 Kbytes of In-System Reprogrammable Flash Memory. Ø     Fully Static Operation: 0 Hz to 24 MHz Ø     Three-Level Program Memory Lock Ø     128 x 8-Bit Internal RAM Ø     32 Programmable I/O Lines Ø     Two 16-Bit Timer/Counters Ø     Six Interrupt Sources Ø     Programmable Serial Channel IR LED Ø The demodulated output signal can directly be decoded by a microprocessor. Ø The main benefit is the operation with high data rates and long distances. Ø detector and preamplifier in one package Ø size package

  10. DC GEAR MOTOR 50 RPM 1. Voltage: 12.0 VDC 2. Output Speed: 50 RPM 3. No-Load output current: =< 50 mA 4. Rotation Output: CW 5. Noise: No Gear Noise 6. Stall output: : Slip Gear, Broken Gear is no allowed PHOTO DIODE phototransistor, however, is much more sensitive to light and produces more output current for a given light intensity that does a photodiode

  11. LM 7805 The LM78O5 series of three terminal positive regulators are available in the TO-220 package and they can deliver over 1A output current. Although designed primarily as fixed voltage regulators, these devices can be used with external components to obtain adjustable voltages and currents. PCB  printed circuit board, or PCB, is used to mechanically support and electrically connect electronic component  using  conductive  pathways, tracks or signal traces  etched from copper sheets  laminated  onto a non-conductive substrate.

  12. CRYSTAL OSCILLATOR It Used To Give A Clock Pulse To Microcontroller I Original Frequency Is 11.0592 MHz BUT WE USE 12 MHz

  13. ADVANTAGE >In India it has been seen that there is shortage of the power we have design Power and energy efficient escalator >Reduced electric stress on the motor and electric network; >Continued monitoring of motor performance improves >electric efficiency while motor is running Reduced direct kWh reading by 10% to 25% >Reduced network losses by up to 75% (equaling 5% from kW) >Reduced reactive energy by 50% (which saves around 2% from kW due to capacitors self losses and harmonics increase)
