History ofSouthern Nevada Transit Coalition • The Southern Nevada Transit Coalition (SNTC) organization was formed in July of 2002. It was originally formed to bring public transportation to the community of Pahrump, NV. After the September 11th terrorist attack and the resulting downturn in the economy in southern Nevada, the SNTC's initial focus was altered by the RTC of Southern Nevada so the SNTC could commence transportation in the rural communities of Laughlin and Mesquite. Previously, the service was provided in Laughlin and Mesquite by a for-profit company that the RTC of Southern Nevada contracted with. Due to the downturn in the economy, the RTC needed to find an alternative to maintain the transportation provided to the rural communities but at a much lower cost. The SNTC commenced transportation in Mesquite (September 2002), Indian Springs (October 2002), Boulder City (November 2002), Laughlin (December 2002) with transportation for Searchlight, Cal-Nev-Ari, and Palm Gardens commencing in 2005. Transportation to the four communities that comprise the Moapa Valley commenced in 2006. This year, 2014, we were able to begin service in Sandy Valley/Goodsprings, NV area.
