What is Section J Report ? Also known as a Part J report, highlights the energy efficiency requirements for Class 3, 5, 7, 8, and 9 for non- Section J Report residential commercial buildings. This is defined by Section J (or Part J) of Volume One of the National Construction Code (NCC), formally known as the Building Code of Australia (BCA). For each requirement of construction development, the list of provisions and energy efficiency needs of the Section J are being documented in form of a report.
Who requires a Section J Report? Any commercial building from Class 3 to 9 requires a section J report to demonstrate compliance with Clause JP1 & JP3 energy efficiency provisions of the NCC Volume 1. Other than this, all non-residential buildings including healthcare, aged care, church, office, laboratory, retail, warehouse, factory, school, and car park will require a BCASection J Report.
When you require a Section J Report? You will require a Section J Report when applying for a Development Application or Construction Certificate Application. The Section J Report will show that you have complied with the energy efficiency requirements as set by the NCC.
