SUMMARY OF THE TWO DAY WORKSHOP Day 1. Welcome and Opening Remarks by Salvano Signing of MoU between ISDR and CADS Presentations: Part 1: Local Governments presentations from Albay, The Philppines; South Africa; Pune,India and Cataluna, Spain. The presentation higlighted the good practices of their offices, despite the hazards and vulnerabilities. (See power point presentations) Part 2: Presentations from the UN Agencies, UNOSAT, UNDP and ILO and Provention. They highligheted their programs and services to the Local governments. (See powerpoint presentation
Day 1. Part 3: Presentation of various global, regional and national Mechanism for networking (See presentation). Introduction of the objectives, agenda, schedule, logistical arrangements. Part 4. Workshops: Refer to guideline in the agenda: (Summary of workshop results, Day 1, and summary of Day 2, below and Summary of Evaluation by participants.
INPUTS ON DISASTER RISK REDUCTION BASED ON THE PRESENTATIONS
If capacity (and readiness) is insufficient If vulnerabilities are too great If the scale of hazard is too big Then, the risk is too high, emergencies may not be managed locally, the communities may not cope, DISASTER will occur.

GLOBAL ALLIANCE FOR DISASTER RISK REDUCTION --Facilitate discussion through other means such as teleconferences --Support the needs of the Advisory group as much as possible and able --Continue the initiation of the organizing of the Advisory group --continue communicating with this group
