Aim & Purpose: The aim of this unit is to provide the learner with an overview of the principles of sports development, the key agencies involved and to provide practical examples of current practice. National Governing Bodies Cont’d • Lead and interpret frameworks. • Promote the sport, increase its profile. • Inform all of any rule changes within the sport. • Communicate between Development Officers, CSP, clubs and coaches. • Develop established clubs.
National Governing Bodies Cont’d • Provide details and information on established clubs. • Assist with the setting up of new clubs, providing a step by step guide. • Increase participation. • Create and maintain opportunities for existing participants to develop.
National Governing Bodies Cont’d • Work closely with SSPs to develop coaches. • Liaise, negotiate and keep the English Schools’ Association informed for each sport. • Provide an overview of current school, county, regional and national competitions and their organisers’ contact details.
