  7. Now I add my opening sentence to get my reader’s attention. Teachers are constantly taking up phones and Mp3 players because they are a “distraction,” but what if there was a way to incorporate these electronics? For example, Music is helpful in education because it contributes to a positive educational environment, generates student interest, and gives the teacher a positive reinforcement tool. That’s why it’s important to use music in school, especially since music is obviously so important in day-to-day culture. Students are constantly being busted for Mp3 players, but maybe teachers should learn to utilize those devices instead of confiscating them. Music can be used as background noise for students, especially those who might have trouble focusing. Next I wrote my transitional statement, since I know from my outline that the first thing I will write about is using music as background ambience for those with ADD. I am writing my thesis statement first because I know it’s a required component in my introduction.
