The changing environment of a large manufacturing site Life has changed considerably within Industrial manufacturing sites:- Move from single ownership to multi occupancy Multi national owners bringing differing approaches Increased levels of transient workforce Less direct resources protecting and managing our businesses Economic climate fostering increased risk taking Reluctance to invest in non profit generating capital Managing security and governance processes under this changing environment is never easy

What do we prepare and practice for? Cable theft Pair die in 'copper cable theft' Two men have died during a suspected burglary at a factory on a Black Country industrial estate. Police said the men from Dudley may have been electrocuted by live copper cabling . They said an activated fire suppression system, which released carbon dioxide, may also have caused their deaths. An 18-year-old from County Durham was found on fire after trying to steal live electrical cable carrying 11,000 volts, police said. The teenager, from Darlington, suffered extensive burns to his arms and head during the incident. He was taken to Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary where his condition is described as serious. A 19-year-old man was arrested and bailed after the incident on Saturday. SAFETY – of both the responder and the intruder. Have you reviewed them as part of your organisational change? Don’t ever be surprised who may be involved and how well planned it may be.

Take some time out to consider your changing environment Within the site/business External economy Consider the disruption element of security not just the material value Be in a position where you can demonstrate a process that has considered these factors and are developing mitigating strategies Policies clearly stating company security strategy Trained, licensed staff Test these mitigation measures effectively in the field Assessment, planning and testing processes Audit and review Work closely with the Police, CTSA’s and your neighbours Review of information gathering Intelligence/Information is very powerful
