  3. Problems • Sugar may give you the energy you need but then you will crash or fall asleep • Symptoms with a sugar crash include Confusion and difficulty concentrating on daily tasks, anxiety, light-headedness, fatigue, and a headache

  4. The Know How • The reason that sugar will make you crash is because it lowers orexin levels in your brain and makes you tired • Also, the orexin cell in your brain is triggered and you start to feel tired and very sleepy

  5. A Good Pre-workout Food • Instead of eating sugar or candies before a workout, a person could eat whole wheat pasta • Pasta has complex carbohydrates, which store glycogen in your muscles

  6. Another Good Pre-workout food • Another strong pre-workout meal is oatmeal • Oatmeal has a low glycemic index • With a low glycemic index, carbs are released into a person’s bloodstream • When carbs are in a person’s bloodstream, their energy level is constant

  7. Conclusion • Sugar is not the great option when a pre-workout snack or meal is needed • The best options are foods with complex carbs or magnesium
