  1. Seismic wave Propagation and Imaging in Complex media: a European network • Mar Tapia Jiménez • Early Stage Researcher • Host Institution: Comenius University, Bratislava • Place of Origin: Barcelona, Spain • Appointment Time: October 2005 • Project: 2D Numerical Modeling of Seismic Motion in Cerdanya Valley (NE Spain) • Task Groups: TG Local Scale • Cooperation: Institut Cartogràfic de Catalunya, Comenius University

  2. Project Scope2D modeling at the Cerdanya valley for estimating local effects The Cerdanya area that forms a valleyis located in the Eastern Pyrenees occupying French and Spanish territoryThe area has importantseismic hazard and risk levels The use of geological maps, the consultation of existing reports about geotechnical studies in the region and the performance of active seismic exploration using the SASW technique to obtain shear velocity profiles allow to constrain realistic models 2D profile, geological map (Cirés,J. private communication)

  3. Modelling with FD methods Finite-Difference Scheme: • P-SV displacement-velocity-stress • 4th-order in space • 2nd-order in time • staggered grid • rheology of GMB, AFDA technique • Gabor pulse, S plane waves Moczo et al.(2000), Moczo et al.(2002), Kristek et al.(2002)

  4. Results Time histories, elastic materials Comp U It is also computed with slight and high viscoelastic materials

  5. Results

  6. Results H/V ratios, Nakamura method (Macau,A. private communication) Outlook: More realistic results using realistic velocity gradients
