  1. HPC TOP 5 STORIES Weekly Insights into the World of High Performance Computing

  2. HPC AND AI HAVE PAVED THE WAY FOR GROUNDBREAKING DISCOVERIES IN SCIENCE, MEDICINE, AND OTHER FIELDS…

  3. PROVING THAT AI IS THE FUTURE OF SUPERCOMPUTING…

  4. TOP 5 HERE ARE THE “TOP FIVE’ STORIES HIGHLIGHTING WHAT’S HOT IN HPC AND AI

  5. TOP 5 1. HGX Partner Program 2. What Does it Take to Get Started with AI? 3. High Performance and More Collaboration for Quants 4. How GPUs and Deep Learning Are Helping Protect Endangered Species 5. NVIDIA Steps Up AI Data Center Push

  6. 1 HGX PARTNER PROGRAM NVIDIA today launched a partner program with the world's leading original design manufacturers (ODM) -- Foxconn, Inventec, Quanta and Wistron -- to more rapidly meet the demands for AI cloud computing. Through the NVIDIA HGX Partner Program, NVIDIA is providing each ODM with early access to the NVIDIA HGX reference architecture, NVIDIA GPU computing technologies and design guidelines. HGX is the same data center design used in Microsoft's Project Olympus initiative, Facebook's Big Basin systems and NVIDIA DGX-1™ AI supercomputers. Using HGX as a starter "recipe," ODM partners can work with NVIDIA to more quickly design and bring to market a wide range of qualified GPU-accelerated systems for hyperscale data centers. 7. 2 WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO GET STARTED WITH AI? This article is part of a special insideHPC report that explores trends in machine learning and deep learning. The complete report covers how businesses are using machine learning and deep learning, differentiating between AI, machine learning and deep learning, what it takes to get started and more. We’ll start off by providing a handy five-step enterprise AI strategy designed to ensure your early AI deployment projects are a success. We’ll also highlight several hardware and software tracks that will assist you along the way. DOWNLOAD REPORT

  8. 3 HIGHER PERFORMANCE AND COLLABORATION FOR QUANTS Regulation is transforming the way banks operate. On one hand, new requirements are tremendously increasing both real-time and overnight calculations, generating more IT costs. On the other, banks are required to have more capital reserve, so scrutiny on spending . Such a problem is not one that’s easy to solve… “With the strong performance advantage that our GPU computing platform offers, financial institutions around the world are turning to NVIDIA to accelerate their most important applications,” said Andy Steinbach, Head of Financial Services, NVIDIA. “This new cloud offering from Misys is a great example of how a company is using our platform to offer a potentially game-changing advantage for the financial industry.” EXPLORE

  9. 4 HOW GPUS AND DEEP LEARNING ARE HELPING PROTECT ENDANGERED SPECIES Finding a cheetah across a dozen square miles of African bush can be difficult. But that same animal might lay down 200,000 footprints in a day. So finding its tracks is a lot easier. And it turns out that, beyond being useful for locating animals, tracks can tell you a whole lot more. This insight has led to a potentially revolutionary approach to wildlife conservation that’s about to be jump-started by deep learning and NVIDIA GPUs. Zoe Jewell and Sky Alibhai are co-founders of WildTrack, a nonprofit devoted to monitoring endangered species. In time for World Environment Day, they’ve launched a program called ConservationFIT, where FIT stands for “footprint identification technology.” BLOG

  10. 5 NVIIDA STEPS UP AI DATA CENTER PUSH Recently, NVIDIA unveiled Volta, the most advanced data-center graphics-processing unit ever built. With 21.1 billion transistors and a massive 815 mm2 footprint, it will facilitate the next generation of artificial intelligence. Nvidia is still pushing the envelope, leading from way out in front. Jen-Hsun Huang, Nvidia’s CEO, boasts that Volta is “pushing the limits of photolithography”. He also understands, ultimately, this is only the beginning of what is possible for AI. READ MORE
