  1. November 3, 2017 DEEP LEARNING TOP 5 Insights into the new computing model

  2. DEEP LEARNING IS THE FASTEST-GROWING FIELD IN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI)

  3. AS AI TECHNOLOGIES CONTINUE TO IMPROVE, MORE COMPANIES ADOPT DEEP LEARNING TO ACCELERATE THEIR BUSINESSES…

  4. TOP 5 1. Pentagon official: AI and machine learning to revolutionize the US intelligence community 2. How AI could spot lung cancer sooner – and save lives 3. AI researchers can now access optimized deep learning framework containers in the cloud 4. AI4ALL improves student access to AI resources through NVIDIA partnership 5. The Deep Learning Institute expands to train the next generation of AI experts

  5. 1 AI WILL REVOLUTIONIZE THE US INTELLIGENCE COMMUNITY Highlighting the growing role AI is playing in security, intelligence and defense, Shanahan spoke Wednesday during a keynote address about his team’s use of GPU-driven deep learning at our GPU Technology Conference in Washington: “Let the machines do what machines do well, and let humans do what only humans can do.” READ BLOG Source: https://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/2017/11/01/gtc-dc-project-maven-jack-shanahan/

  6. 2 HOW AI COULD SPOT LUNG CANCER SOONER – AND SAVE LIVES Lung cancer is the most common cancer worldwide. It’s also one of the most deadly. More than 80 percent of people with lung cancer die within five years of being diagnosed, and half die within a year. H. Michael Park, co- founder of startup Innovation DX, is working to improve those odds. In December, his St. Louis-based medical analytics company plans to release its first product — a GPU-accelerated AI system that detects lung cancer in its early stages from a simple chest X-ray. READ BLOG “Lung cancer is so deadly today because it’s diagnosed so late. We wanted to see if we could help people survive by detecting it early.” Source: https://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/2017/10/30/detecting-lung-cancer/

  7. 3 AI RESEARCHERS CAN NOW INNOVATE IN MINUTES, NOT WEEKS, WITH NVIDIA GPU CLOUD NVIDIA announced the NVIDIA GPU Cloud (NGC), a cloud-based platform that gives developers convenient access – deskside or the cloud -- to a comprehensive software suite for harnessing the transformative powers of AI. Jim McHugh, vice president and general manager of DGX Systems at NVIDIA, shared: “We're designing a cloud platform that will unleash AI developers, so they can build a smarter world. You can do your best work no matter where you are, using our latest technology in the cloud. It's accelerated computing when and where you need it.” LEARN MORE Source: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/gpu-cloud/

  8. 4 AI4ALL IMPROVES STUDENT ACCESS TO AI RESOURCES THROUGH NVIDIA PARTNERSHIP Non-profit organization AI4ALL announced its partnership with NVIDIA to increase its students’ access to AI resources, like training through NVIDIA’s Deep Learning Institute, exposure to AI careers through field trips, and access to mentors. As Greg Estes, VP of Developer Programs at NVIDIA, said: “AI4ALL is doing great work to establish pathways into AI for students who might otherwise encounter barriers that discourage them from getting involved. Getting diverse voices into the field will help ensure better outcomes for AI, which is why we’re supporting AI4ALL to provide more access to career experiences and educational resources.” READ ARTICLE Source: https://medium.com/ai4allorg/ai4all-announces-partnership-with-nvidia-3324dd05e22c

  9. 5 THE DEEP LEARNING INSTITUTE EXPANDS TO TRAIN THE NEXT GENERATION OF AI EXPERTS The MIT Technology Review shared the news that NVIDIA is expanding its Deep Learning Institute to address the growing need for data scientists and developers with a proficiency in deep learning. When MIT Tech Review spoke to Andrew Ng, he emphasized the need to bring AI education to the forefront: “I don’t think every person on the planet needs to know deep learning. But if AI is the new electricity, look at the number of electrical engineers and electricians there are. There’s a huge workforce that needs to be built up for society to figure out how to do all of the wonderful stuff around us today.” READ ARTICLE Source: https://www.technologyreview.com/the-download/609284/nvidia-is-aiming-to-train-the-next-generation-of-ai-experts/
