Screening R/T/D • The General Services Administration (GSA) redesigned the process to: • Require all federal agencies, including DoD, to compete for property using the Federal Disposal System (FEDS). • Standardize disposal of excess personal property • DRMS will share the screening cycles with GSA Surplus

For Reutilization Customers: What It Means to You • DRMS instituted a 14-calendar day, exclusive window of opportunity for DoD: first-come, first-process • Exclusive DoD screening includes accumulation period (up to 7 days) plus 14 for formal screening before GSA gains control. • Served at the beginning of the screening After 21 days, Reutilization customers can: • Claim items excess to other Federal agencies • Screen and freeze property through FEDS. • Still submit Priority 1-3 emergency requisitions to DRMS. • DoD and Special Programs have an additional 2-day period to requisition property from DRMS Surplus
Recommendations • For best access to available DoD property, requisition property during 14-day DoD screening cycle through DRMS. • If you have a recurring need for specific NSNs, sign up with DRMS for automated batch searches and let the system do your searching. Surplus
FEDS Information • Through FEDS, DoD customers: • Gain access to excess property of other Federal agencies. • May screen and freeze property electronically. • Compete with other authorized agencies for property. • To obtain FEDS account to freeze property, send email to: • Fedsaccess@gsa.gov giving name, address, phone number, email address, and DoD Activity Code.
