For your next assignment, movie trailer, you will NOT be required to write a storyboard or regular script. Instead, we will add in 2 preproduction elements after the treatment.
As you know, you write the treatment, script, and storyboard before you begin production. With a movie trailer, editors have the entire film to work with. The film is already shot.
It will be pointless to write the entire script for a short movie trailer. Therefore, we will write a more in-depth treatment that will first summarize your movie idea in greater detail than the usual treatments.
What is a treatment?A treatment is a written document that tells the same story as the script, but is shorter. It is brief, but exciting enough to read and gather the main idea of the movie.
Treatments vary in length from a one page pitch to 2 to 5 pages of the story that includes the highlights up to 60 pages. Some write the treatment as a scene by scene breakdown as well.
Your treatment will be a story that includes the highlights. It should be written in the present tense and read like a short story. You will include key scene, dialogue, and the ending.
