Lightning strike and CCTV system • There is little that anyone can do that will offer complete protection from a lighting strike. • All we can only hope to minimise it’s devastating effects. • As a CCTV installers it is often your responsibility to design a CCTV system which can minimise the effect of a lighting strike.

  3. What is the solution? • Surge protector • electrical device inserted in a power line between camera and digital recorder to protect equipment from sudden fluctuations in current caused by lightning strike.

How to install Surge protector? • Install surge protector near the recording device first (this can be any device that your are trying to protect), "IN" end is for input and "OUT" end is for output to the protected device which is DVR, then set ground wire well and straight to Earth connection.
