  17. Don’t Forget… • When you register for your year long classes, you have to enter in the course numbers for bothsemesters. • Make sure you select BOTH S1 and S2. • For example: English I: • 50300S1 AND • 50300S2

  23. Double Check… • Did I talk to my teachers about which classes I should take? • Do I have a total of 14 classes? • Did I sign up for BOTH semesters of year-long classes? • Did I select FOUR elective classes as alternates? • Did I have my parent sign at the bottom of the print out?

  24. Important Date! • By January 20th: Students have entered course requests into Parent Portal • On January 20th: 8th Grade Registration Sheets due to SGMS Counseling Office • On January 20th: PHS Counselors to SGMS to collect Registration Sheets

  25. Tips for Success for Your Freshman Year! • Develop good study habits – your GPA starts here. • HOMEWORK, HOMEWORK, HOMEWORK…complete it AND turn it in! • PLANNER…use it! It will make things much easier for you! • Meet your counselor. • Get involved! Try different activities. It helps you meet people with similar interests, it helps you manage your time better and it looks really good to colleges! • Determine the classes you like and dislike. Pinpoint reasons for your likes and dislikes. • Understand PHS graduation requirements. Talk to your counselor if you have any questions about them. • Begin to explore careers that you believe you might enjoy and find out what academic courses are required to pursue those particular careers. • Begin your Student Portfolio in Naviance. Keep good records. This will help you down the road when you are ready to apply for colleges. • Start your Community Service…it’s never too early! • Make an appointment with your counselor if you have any questions about anything.
