CONDITIONS: Given an AN/PRC-119 or AN/PRC-77, the required accessories, and a requirement to send a message. STANDARDS: As a RadioTelephone Operator (RTO), with an AN/PRC-119 (dismounted or mounted) or AN/PRC-77 and required accessories, place a message within 3 minutes.
DESCRIPTION OF EQUIPMENT Automated Net Control Device (ANCD)
Army Command, Control and Communications requires the development of leaders with the right combination of skills essential to the Army's readiness for future operational missions. The challenge is to provide those avenues to establish and maintain the individual or unit's needs to communicate.
ESTABLISHING COMMUNICATIONS 1. PLACE THE RADIO INTO OPERATION 2. ENTER THE NET 3. TRANSMIT A RADIO MESSAGE
PLACE THE RADIO INTO OPERATION 4 MAJOR STEPS SET BATTERY LIFE CONDITIONS TEST TRANSMITTER PRESET CONTROLS TEST RT CIRCUITS
PLACE THE RADIO INTO OPERATION PRESET CONTROLS 1. Turn Function (FTCN) to OFF. 2. Turn RF Power (RF) to LO.
PLACE THE RADIO INTO OPERATION PRESET CONTROLS 4. Turn the MODE to SC. 3. Turn the Channel (CHAN) to MAN.
PLACE THE RADIO INTO OPERATION PRESET CONTROLS 6. Turn the Volume (VOL) to MIDRANGE. 5. Turn the COMSEC to CT.
PLACE THE RADIO INTO OPERATION PRESET CONTROLS 6. Turn the DIM to MIDRANGE. 7. Turn FTCN switch to "TST".
PLACE THE RADIO INTO OPERATION TEST RT CIRCUITS 1. Set FCTN to Z-FH.

PLACE THE RADIO INTO OPERATION SET BATTERY LIFE CONDITION 3. Enter battery life condition numbers (if battery has previously been used)and press STO to start clock.

ENTER THE NET PREPARE RADIO 2. Turn COMSEC switch to "CT". 1. Turn FCTN switch to "LD".
ENTER THE NET LOAD FREQUENCIES Set the RT Controls: 1. Set COMSEC to PT. 2. Set MODE to SC.
ENTER THE NET LOAD FREQUENCIES Set the RT Controls: 3. Set FCTN to Z-FH, TST, and then to LD. 4. Set CHAN to MAN
ENTER THE NET LOAD FREQUENCIES 3. Press STO. To Load the Frequency: 1. Press FREQ - display shows 30000. 2. Press CLR - display shows _ _ _ _ _. • Enter the frequency.
ENTER THE NET LOAD FREQUENCIES To Load the Frequency: Repeat each step for each frequency needed. 4. Set FCTN to SQ ON.
ENTER THE NET Load COMSEC/FH Data 1. COMSEC should be at CT. 2. FCTN should be at LD. 3. MODE should be at FH.
ENTER THE NET Load COMSEC/FH Data 4. CHAN should be at MAN. 5. Press the DATA (4) button to turn DATA OFF.
ENTER THE NET Load COMSEC/FH Data 6. Turn on the Automated Net Control Device (ANCD).
ENTER THE NET Load COMSEC/FH Data 7. In the display, select RADIO. 8. Select SEND.
ENTER THE NET Load COMSEC/FH Data 9. Select send to RADIO. 10. Select ICOM.
ENTER THE NET Load COMSEC/FH Data + 11. Connect the RT AUD/FILL Connector 11½. When the arrow appears in the lower right hand corner, you must press the down arrow to proceed!
ENTER THE NET Load COMSEC/FH Data 12. Set FCTN to LD on the RT.
ENTER THE NET Load COMSEC/FH Data 13. Load the time as part of ICOM Fill during net openings and Hot Start late Net entry only

TRANSMIT A RADIO MESSAGE Enter the net. • Determine the abbreviated call sign and answering sequence for your duty position
TRANSMIT A RADIO MESSAGE Respond to the NCS Respond to the NCS issuing a net call, answering in alphanumeric sequence. At this time, the NCS acknowledges and the net is open. TRANSMIT A RADIO MESSAGE Send a message. • Listen to make sure the net is clear. Do not interrupt any ongoing communications. • Call the NCS and tell the operator the priority of the message you have for his or her station. • Receive a response from the NCS that he or she is ready to receive
TRANSMIT A RADIO MESSAGE Prowords and Pronunciation Send your message using the correct prowords and pronunciation of letters and numbers. Get a receipt for the message.
