What Will You Have? • Topic: Life Priorities • Materials:BBQ grill and grilling materials, many kinds of meats and vegetables (or replace with a variety of foods, such as chips)
Lesson Objectives • Put God first in your life • Establish a principle which can help us make future decisions • Biblical examples • Daniel • Esther
Bible Insights Matthew 6:33 Daniel 1:11-13 Esther 4:16 Zechariah 4:6
Discussion • As a student, how does the following fit in our priorities? • Friend’s party vs. keeping the Sabbath? • Extracurricular activities vs. keeping the Sabbath? • Church picnic vs. studying for a test? • Kingdom of God vs. hell? • Lots of extra homework vs. regular bible reading and prayer? • When we make a bad decision, how do we know we made a bad decision? Is this a work of Satan? • What is your thought process as you make your decisions? • What biblical principle do we use as we determine our priorities?
Life Application • What is the most difficult decision you had to make in the past year? • What can we do to help us have the right priorities? • Do your prayers help you make the right decisions? • Apostle Paul says “For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do.” (Rm 7:15). “The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” (Mt 26:41) “All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful.” (1 Cor 6:12) How do these quotes apply to us as we are trying to live a life of proper priorities?
Testimony Sister MJ was a senior in college and looking for a job. However, with her busy schedule (school and job searching), she spent less and less time with God in prayer and Bible reading. With no job offers by the end of the fall semester, she started to examine herself during the winter break. She realized that her priorities were not consistent with her faith. During the break, she determined to spend more time with God once again. When spring semester started, she still did not have a job, but her attitude had turned much better. By mid spring, she landed a job.
