  4. Manipulating Tabs on the Ruler Turn on the display of the Ruler withView, Ruler. Tab Alignment Symbols Ruler Alignment Button Left Tab Decimal Tab Center Tab Bar Tab Right Tab

  5. Types of Tabs Left Tab Center Tab Right Tab Decimal Tab You can set the tabs before typing text, oryou can select existing text, and then set tabs.

  6. Setting Tabs click Alignment button to select the desired tab type click just below the tick mark to put tab into place

  7. Inserting a New Line Turn on the display of nonprinting characters with the Show/Hide button. Enter - creates new paragraph Shift + Enter - creates new line without creating new paragraph

  8. Setting Tabs at a Specific Measurement Pointing to ruler while pressing Alt key reveals actual measurements

  9. Moving and Deleting Tabs Moving Tabs line indicates location on page drag and drop the Tab with the mouse Deleting Tabs drag the Tab down into the document screen with the mouse and release it

  14. Visually Aligning Columns select exiting text, and then drag thetab to the desired location visual line

  15. Typing Column Headings Column headings that are shorter than the column entries can be visually centered above the entries. If the column heading is the longest line in the column, use the heading to determine tab settings.
