In medicine, for example, the ability of technology to prolong life beyond what was possible traditionally has created some serious issues for society to resolve. Many of the technological advancements in medicine have occurred over a relatively short period of time. Society, in general, has marvelled at new life-saving and life-prolonging procedures, but has not recognized that these advancements represent change, and that change has consequences
