8. Absences • If your child doesn’t feel well, please keep them home where they can get well and avoid spreading germs. • If your child is absent, please call or email both the office and me. • I’d be happy to send home homework with a sibling or a neighbor if you request it.

They will read a variety of genres throughout the year. Projects will have special directions which will be given to the kids the month before the project is due.

19. Newsletter Emails • We’re mostly green. • Newsletters will come to you via email and will be available on Connect. • Connect Website—check it out!

Purple Sheets & Friday Folders • Communicates what kind of week your child had in terms of getting homework turned in on time and with their name on it • Read it • Sign it • Send it back to school • Look for them! Friday Folders come home once a week, on Fridays. Please look through it, clean it out, send it back.

24. Parent Volunteers • Workroom Helpers- THANKS to Pam Gross, Pheth Ko, Saradha Kumar, and Rashell Currier. I appreciate all your help!! • I usually email everyone and ask if I’ve got a special event or project happening that I need helpers for.

29. Tests • Stanford Testing window is Jan. 30- Feb. 11 • Measure of Student Progress testing window is April 29-May 20. Reading, Math, and Science

30. Camp • May 29-31 • Parent Information Night- Jan. 29 at 6:00 PM • Chaperones- We predict having 2-3 Dads and 2-3 Moms selected from each class. The chaperone drawing takes place at the Parent Meeting. • Cost $235

What is ISF? • 26 year-old, community powered non-profit organization • Partners with the Issaquah School District to drive resources to help all students achieve the promise of their academic potential • Bridges the gap between state funding and what our schools need to operate at the high standards we expect for our children

33. ISF Programs • ISF raised over $1.1M for Issaquah schools during the 2011-2012 school year, with recent programs including : • Academic excellence (e.g., leveled reading rooms and K-5 science curriculum – both directly benefiting Cascade Ridge!) • Struggling students (e.g., pre-Kindergarten programs, after school homework labs, VOICE mentoring for at-risk students) • Professional development (e.g., National Board Certification scholarships for teachers, new teacher start-up grants) • PTSA alone cannot provide these resources to our schools – we need both ISF and PTSA!

34. ISF relies on parents for over 80% of its revenue… But only 1 in 5 families currently donates! • ISF raises money primarily through the All in for Kids annual fund campaign and the Nourish Every Mind Luncheon in May • Be All in for Kids! • Annual fund campaign now through November • Every gift matters, every year! • Donate online now at www.isfdn.org and you will not be called during the November phone campaign! We need Every Cascade Ridge Family to be “All in for kids”!
