Legislation Policy informed by legislation: • Environmental Protection Act 1990 • Waste management licensing Regulations 1994 • "waste" is "...any substance or object…which the holder discards or intends or is required to discard.“ But… • Exemptions (paragraphs 50 (WEEE) & 51 (lamps)) • Hazardous waste Regulations 2005 • WEEE Regulations 2006 • “the prevention of WEEE and in addition, the reuse, recycling and other forms of recovery of such wastes so as to reduce the disposal of waste”. • RoHS Regulations 2006 • Ozone-depleting substances Regulations 2006 • Data protection act 1998 • You should ensure that all information is erased if it is no longer required for business purposes.
