Vocabulary • Career – glossary, page 50 • Postsecondary Education - after high school, a form of higher education available at universities, academies, colleges, and career institutions (including vocational schools, trade schools and other colleges) that award academic degrees or certificates
Opening Journal • Turn to page 11 and take 5-10minutes to answer the questions • You will share with a neighbor or the class, so be thoughtful with your responses
Career Interest Inventory • Turn to page 12 • Place a checkmark next to each item that you feel describes you • Count the number of checkmarks and place that number in the final column • Take your time; you have 10-15 minutes
What Do Your Results Mean? • On pages 13-15 • Take five minutes to find your “Holland Code” (based on previous exercise) and read about yourself • Think about whether you agree or disagree with the statements; not all of it may apply to you all the time—that’s okay!
Exploring Career Opportunities • You have 15-20 minutes to review/look through pages 17-24 • Pick 2-3 careers that are the most interesting to you • Be prepared to share one career that interests you and why
Closing Journal • Turn to page 25 • Take five minutes to answer the questions about the ONE career you found most interesting from pages 17-24
