1 Areas of Responsibility Manifesto Pledges • Representation of students on all academic matters to the University and national bodies. • Provide advice on academic matters to students as required. • Ensuring the smooth running of the academic representation system. • Ensuring the smooth running of Student Congress. • Promotion of opportunities for members to improve their future prospects. No more exam bunching 2 All assignments to be submitted electronically Alternative forms of assessment 3 Feedback you can learn from Increased communication between students and staff. 4 Make the class rep community bigger and better • I am the Chair of: • Education Forum Class Reps and other volunteering opportunities recognised on transcripts • I sit on the following University committees: • Court • Senate • Education Strategy Committee • Information Strategy Committee • Library Board Better postgraduate representation
1 • What I have done so far: • Created HEAR Working Group • Attended the national launch of the HEAR • Lobbied University to work on class catalogue • Worked with VPSW on getting Wednesday afternoon absences for sport waived by Principal • Discussions with HaSS to ensure student access in Lord Hope building • Become a Student Rep Campaign • Been on sick leave quite a bit over the past couple of months – on the mend now though! 2 3 4
1 • What I am still working on: • Postgraduate Representation • Attending a meeting about PGR student experience • Currently working with Val Belton, Associate Deputy Principal, on a project on PGT student experience • Learning & Teaching Agreement: draft should be finished by this week, then consultation with students and staff • Student Congress: Next week, it’s looking good! • Exam bunching: developing a campaign for January exam diet • Working on developing Assessment & Feedback workshops with Uni and then renovating the current assessment & feedback policy • Transnational students update: NUS is creating a toolkit in May, so currently working with University on finding out info on our transnational students – I know they are out there! 2 3 4
