  2. WOMEN ARTISTS IN THE PAST • After an intense websearch, we have found scarce examples of women artists throughout the centuries. The main reason for this is that arts was a field, like that of literature, in which womens' works were not focused on. • Most of these women artists were encouraged to follow this path by their parents, most of them are daughters of well- known artists in their times.

  4. Luisa Roldán • Daughter of renowned sculptor Pedro Roldan. She married the sculptor Luis Antonio. • She worked as camera sculptor for the monarchs of Charles II and Philip Although he had great fame died in poverty.

  6. Josefa de Obidos • She is the most prominent painter of the second half of XVII Portuguese. • At sixteen, she entered the convent of Santa Ana de Coimbra. In 1653 he left the convent, for unknown reasons, returning to her parents. • Some of her works are in the monastery of Alcobaça or Jeronimos Monastery in Lisbon, • She was requested to perform portraits, including those of the royal family, for which became very famous. • She died in Óbidos in 1684, at age 54.

  8. Francoise Duparc She was the daughter of the sculptor and architect Antoine Duparc Marseille She was born during his parents' stay in Murcia, where she is known as Francisca Dupar. She came back to France with his family in 1745, where he developed his technique under the inluence of the Frenchman Jean-Baptiste van Loo. She travelles around Europe and eventually she settled in London.

Eva Gonzalez • Eva Gonzalès is an impressionist painter. • She was born in Paris on April 19, 1849 and died in the same city on May 5, 1883. • In February 2008, Frankfurt's Schirn Museum opened an exhibition with the work of Eva Gonzales and three other Impressionist painters, Berthe Morisot French women, Marie Bracquemond and the American Mary Cassatt.

  14. Maria Blanchard • Encouraged by his decidedly undertakes the path of art in 1903 moving to Madrid where he began developing his true vocation. • Embark on the journey to Paris in 1909, already possessing a skill and technique, ready to face all that the city meant then new and revolutionary.

  16. Maruja Mayo • In Madrid and participated actively in the Iberian Artists Society. • She taught drawing and ceramics at the Institute of Avila Arevalo. • She studied mathematics and geometry to apply to their work. • On February 6, 1995, she died in Madrid at the age of 93.
