General characteristics 2010 Survey of Household Finances • Survey frequency : annual from 2010 • Survey unit: economic family • Including persons who work elsewhere during the week and students who are away from home during the school term • Collection method: face-to-face personal interview • Interview duration: average 60 minutes • Incentive: 50$/household/wave • Response rate: 74%(wave 1) • Funded by Central Bank and Financial Supervisory Service
Sampling and estimating 2010 Survey of Household Finances • Sampling size: 10,000 responding households • Probability sampling, oversampling of the wealthy • Private households (excluding Institutional households, foreigners, homeless) • Design to estimate both cross-sectional and longitudinal data • Keeping in touch: visiting 5 months prior to repeat interview • Re-weighting, calibration to population benchmarks
2010 SHF Questionnaire 2010 Survey of Household Finances • Demographics and employment, hh type and composition • Real and financial Assets • Liabilities • Plus collateral, maturity, refinancing, monthly payment, interest rates, loan purposes, etc. • Income by individual sources • Detailed non-consumption expenditure • Attitude and behavior ※ Excluding Business equity, Pension assets, Consumption expenditure
Analysis and dissemination 2010 Survey of Household Finances • Wealth distribution across different types of hhs • Differences in the level and composition of assets and liabilities of hhs with different characteristics • Numbers & characteristics of hhs with particular types of wealth • Indicators measuring hh financial stability • Gini coefficients and quantile measures • Ignoring equivalence scale • Means and medians, ratios and percentage shares, etc. • Release the result data in December 2010

Sampling and other characteristics Analysis and dissemination Plans for a survey of HH Finance and living conditions • The draft will be discussed, commented and revised before pre-test • Similar to those of the Survey of HH Finances • Sample 1: the same as those of the Survey of HH Finances • Sample 2: relation between individual and family well-being and changes of their labor market activities, family make-up, etc. • Core(20,000 hh samples): joint distribution of hh resources, poverty, social exclusion, etc. by different hh characteristics,
Implementation plan Plans for a survey of HH Finance and living conditions • Sep. 2011: study and develop the draft version of the survey • Oct. 2011: pre-test the survey questionnaire • Dec. 2011: finalize content and form of the questionnaire and other survey design • Mar. 2012: select samples and conduct the actual survey • Nov. 2012: analyze and release the survey results
