Core Strategy: Ensure Capacity and Infrastructure • Develop and hold board orientation, including understanding of roles and responsibilities • Support mentoring for new board members • Develop plan evaluation metrics and reporting on strategic plan Objective: Implement an annual board orientation program for all board members (and interim members as needed) to ensure efficient continuation of operations from year to year. Measure and Goal: Executive board will host an orientation meeting (and as needed if new members are appointed throughout the year) Strategic Plan 2019
Core Strategy: Ensure Capacity and Infrastructure • Evaluate board roles and positions including sections and committees • Support vote for new board positions as outlined in bylaws, including nomination committee process • Nominating committee with create a nomination process for filling vacancies • Identify which internal and external committees KPHA should be representing on and identify KPHA board member • Evaluate administrative support options and contracts to present to the board Objective: Support an administrative infrastructure redesign which assures the maintenance of the organization. Core Strategy: Advance Membership • Utilize APHA membership list to recruit new members annually • With input from the target population, develop marketing materials for students and new career professionals • Identify current membership and reporting process • Reach out to APHA for retention and organizational plans from other Affiliates • Renewals and automated emails (fix) • Investigate other membership benefits Objective: Create and execute a Member Recruitment and Retention Plan to increase, retain, and diversify membershipMeasure and Goal: Annual review and examination of membership data by the executive committee of KPHA. Core strategy: Advance Membership • Create and implement membership survey • Disseminate results to membership • Organize various KPHA socials and networking activities at public health events (after hours, CDAK, Governor’s Public Health, APHA, etc. Objective: Create opportunities for membership engagement to increase membership and participation Measure and Goal: One or more opportunities provided per quarter Strategic Plan 2019
Core Strategy: Build a Movement • Establish and publish an annual legislative agenda • Identify at least one member as an expert spokesperson for each policy annual issue for 2020 • Provide public health position statements regarding priority issues • Conduct at least one activity annually that engages the public (Gov Candidate forum, NPHW, Speak for Health) Objective: Advocate for key public health issues to advance the mission of KPHA Measure and Goal: Member perception survey about effectiveness and awareness of advancement of advocacy activities Strategic Plan 2019
Core Strategy: Empower Communications • Identify strategic media partners & maintain a list of key contacts for each organization • Prioritize key communications methods (email blast) for members • Prioritize key communications activities to the public and stakeholders • Develop/revise communications policies and procedures • Create a new brand experience (colors/logo) • Revamp website themes Objective: Create and implement a communication plan to engage the membership and public Measure and Goal: Completed/revised/reviewed by Board annually to support member and public engagement Strategic Plan 2019
Core Strategy:Advance with Intent • Identify key section stakeholders with policy platforms to learn and share priorities • Convene key stakeholders with policy platforms • Generate Public Health 3.0 partnerships across system Objective: Convene strategic partners and jointly pursue an activity around public health 3.0 Measure and Goal: Completion of at least one strategic partner event and section committee objectives Strategic Plan 2019
