44 Sounds of English • Each page has one sound( phoneme), showing its various written forms (graphemes), with examples. • Not all graphemes are shown, so if you or your students discover one not shown, celebrate this with the student and please let us know. • 2-18 (yellow) are consonant sounds, 19-24 (green) are short vowel sounds, 25-32(pink) are long vowel sounds, 33-39 (aqua) are digraph (combined) sounds, 40-44 (orange) are ‘r’ controlled sounds. • Some graphs have been left blank as a challenge for your students. Use these as you feel appropriate. • Suggested uses of this Power Point could be for READ tutor knowledge or as a student activity. ( recommended not all at once! Gain confidence yourself before you use it with your students.) • As pictures may be taken from the internet please be discreet, do not leave around or distribute.
