CONFERENCE ORGANIZERS NEWS • New Fee for technically Co-Sponsored Conference • $500 fee for conference that do not publish with IEEE • Begin Jan 2011 • Charge to IEEE co-sponsoring organization unit (OU) • Include Non-discrimination statement in conference materials & informed vendors of IEEE policy. • LIFE member & Student conference registration fee • reduced rates for conferences • Life members fee must be no higher than the rate offered for Students.  • Starting 9/2010, new $14 tax on US visitor from visa-waivers country.

WHY CTS SUPPORT CONFERENCE ACTIVITES • CTS Conference Goals • Increase education of CTS Chapter leaders so as to increase future conference activity • Identify more conferences to sponsor financially • Support Non-Sponsored Events when IEEE members benefit • Benefit financially (allows increased IEEE activities) • Financial Sponsored Conferences provides long term financial resources

  4. CTS Sponsor Conferences • 2011 • IEEE USA March 4th – Austin • Engineering Week Event in Austin Feb 21st – 25th • Feb. 22 11am – 1pm – at FSL Semiconductor. Speaker John Weil on “Energy Efficient System Design. It’s more than a power budget…" • Feb. 23 6pm – 8pm – at AT&T. Speaker Leslie Martinich on “ What is your role in innovation” • Mar. 3rd – 11am -1pm - TBA. Speaker Jim Kennedy on “Lessons in Life and Leadership…As Inspired by True Stories of Space Exploration” • Others in planning phase: • EDC STW September 2011 (100%) • PEC Training class October 2011 (100%) • ICICDT 2012 (100%) • Globecom 2014

CTS Guidelines • Contact Thuy Dao (thuybdao@ieee.org) to determine the meeting category for your event. • Workshop, tutorial, and lecture • Submit plan and budget to CTS executive committee for approval prior to execution on plan. • Budget should resulted in 20% surplus. • Conference, Symposium,Training class, and Workshop • Submit plan and budget to CTS executive committee for approval prior to execution on plan. • Budget should resulted in 20% surplus. • An MOU has to be signed between CTS & event organizer if CTS / chapter is to be financial or technical sponsor • All contracts have to be reviewed and approved by CTS executive prior to signing.
