  1. Bhagavad-Gita As It IsChapter 5 Text 22 Sense pleasure source of miseries. Transcendental pleasure.

  2. Text 22 ye hi saàsparça-jä bhogä duùkha-yonaya eva te ädy-antavantaù kaunteya na teñu ramate budhaù An intelligent person does not take part in the sources of misery, which are due to contact with the material senses. O son of Kunté, such pleasures have a beginning and an end, and so the wise man does not delight in them.

  3. What is sense pleasure? • Sense pleasures are nothing but contact of senses with sense objects,e.g. eyes seeing beautiful things, ears hearing nice music, nose smelling fragrances, tongue tasting palatable food, skin feeling good sensation by touching, • Is it really a pleasure?

  4. Topmost sense pleasure – What it really is? yan maithunädi-gåhamedhi-sukhaà hi tucchaà kaëòüyanena karayor iva duùkha-duùkham tåpyanti neha kåpaëä bahu-duùkha-bhäjaù kaëòütivan manasijaà viñaheta dhéraù Sex life is compared to the rubbing of two hands to relieve an itch. Gåhamedhis, so-called gåhasthas who have no spiritual knowledge, think that this itching is the greatest platform of happiness, although actually it is a source of distress. The kåpaëas, the fools who are just the opposite of brähmaëas, are not satisfied by repeated sensuous enjoyment. Those who are dhéra, however, who are sober and who tolerate this itching, are not subjected to the sufferings of fools and rascals. (SB 7.9.45)

  5. Sense pleasures are fatal:- • It drives everyone crazy, e.g. man killed in “love” affairs, moth burned in fire, wild elephant tamed, • Great source of misery even if attained,e.g. sex life reduces life span in man, intense attachment to body and things in relation to – Kulinga bird,Aids and Cancer result of sense pleasures.

  6. Transcendental Pleasure ramante yogino 'nante satyänande cid-ätmani iti räma-padenäsau paraà brahmäbhidhéyate "The mystics derive unlimited transcendental pleasures from the Absolute Truth, and therefore the Supreme Absolute Truth, the Personality of Godhead, is also known as Räma."

  7. Transcendentalist :- • Brahmananda. • Joy of Krsna Consciousness. • Leaving worldly happiness to attain the spiritual happiness,e.g. yogis going to himalayas, six goswamis of Vrindavan giving up there opulence. • Even giving up the joy of Brahmanada to attain the happiness of Krsna Consciousness,e.g. Sukhadeva Goswami & Catush Kumaras.

  8. Spiritual & material sense enjoymentgo ill together. näyaà deho deha-bhäjäà nå-loke kañöän kämän arhate viò-bhujäà ye tapo divyaà putrakä yena sattvaà çuddhyed yasmäd brahma-saukhyaà tv anantam "My dear sons, there is no reason to labor very hard for sense pleasure while in this human form of life; such pleasures are available to the stool-eaters [hogs]. Rather, you should undergo penances in this life by which your existence will be purified, and as a result you will be able to enjoy unlimited transcendental bliss."

  9. Therefore, chant Hare Krsna & follow four regulative principles. • Simply, chanting Hare Krsna brings transcendental pleasure in our lives. • But engaging in sense pleasures is like pouring the water on fire. • One must give up sense gratification to attain transcendental pleasures. • Following four regulative principles and keeping due humility one should chant Hare Krsna.
