Interesting Facts • Corday was a member of an aristocratic family. She was a descendant of the French dramatist Pierre Corneille on her mother's side • When she was a young girl ( or teenager) her mother passed away along with her older sister. • Her father sent Charlotte and her younger sister to live at the Caen Abbaye-aux-Dames residents. • After 1791, Corday lived with her cousin, Madame Le Coustellier de Bretteville-Gouville in Caen • She was baptized on a church called Saint- Saturnin- des- Ligneries

Marat's Assassination • On July 13thof 1793, just before noon Charlotte Corday arrived at Marat’s house . Offer to inform him a planed girondist uprising in Caen. • Marat conducted most of his works in a bathtub , because of a skin condition. So when Corday went to his house she found him in the bathtub. • As Corday recited the names of the girondists, Marat wrote then down , Corday pulled a knife from her scarf, she plunged it into Marat's chest.
The Assassnation • When he was dying he called out “ Aidez Ma Chere Amie!”, which means help me my dear friend. • Corday Remained at the scene until the guards took her away. • At her trial she excliamed that he carried out the assassnation alone, saying, “I killed one man to save a hundred thousand.”
The Killing • Her actions were world renown • Marat started threatening the great virtues of a republic . • So charlotte stood up for herself and some others.
