  2. Volunteer Manual • This manual was made for volunteers that decide to come to Sun Valley Youth Center. • It gives needed information and tools to better equip the volunteers. • Its an orientation that will prepare them for a possible life changing experience, and what they may be faced with.

Volunteer application • What this application contains: • Basic Information • Interests, Such as working with different ages and in what category, church, clubs or organization. • How many times you are willing to work a week • Release Of Information/Statement • Background check • Wavier Of Liability • Statement Of Confidentiality • Photography/Video/ Story Release

  4. debriefing • Includes: • Different ways to perform debriefing sessions at the end of the day. • Question will open up topics for discussions that may bring the volunteers out of there normal thinking. • It will also bring the groups closer to getting to know each other’s thoughts and feeling. • A debriefing in the morning and after the day is done.

Volunteer expectations • Be prepared to play and get messy with the kids • Ask staff for direction and help • Speak in positive terms to the children • Plan time to talk to staff before and after donated time • Be alert to special danger situation at your site • Keep your voice at a low manner • Find out staff ground rules • Keep your cool

  6. emergency • This contains emergency contacts if there were any kind of mishap. • Along with local hospitals in the area. • Site Director’s number, along with who is second in command. • Police Non-emergency number. • Fire Department Non-Emergency Number • Local hospitals.

  7. First aid This will help any volunteer know the basics of handling any small injury. It also will tell you a step by step instruction of what to do if a child is injured while they are in your care.

The taste of Denver • Volunteers work from 8am-6pm and afterwards they are given down time to do various things as a group. • As groups feel the need to visit different choices of restaurants; I have included various local area restaurants that are $20 and under which including many different varieties of food. • Such as…. • Mexican • Asian • Italian • Burger Joints • Curry

  9. A look inside of Denver Each group is given down time to do what they wish after the day is over to enjoy the local scenes of Denver. Each place listed in the manual gives information on location, price, days of business, and any other additional information.

  10. history The history page located in the manual gives a brief history and outlook on Denver. It gives its educational view and how it was discovered. In addition, it explains the major aspects of what Denver is famous for.
