  1. Title: Why is using sophisticated and appropriate vocabulary important when writing a fantasy story? Class Reasons

  2. Reasons • Adjectives convey atmosphere: For example, ‘dreary’ is much different than ‘dark’, for it is more sinister and gothic. • Verbs convey the movements of a character: Forexample, ‘temped’ the lawyer is much different to ‘convinced’ the lawyer, for ‘temped’ suggests that the action should not have been done. • Your readers: Your readership must is targeted by the language you use. For example, using ‘abhor’ may sound great is describe the level of hate a character has but if your readers are five, you may want to use the ‘hate’.

  3. Extract from Dr. Jekyll & Mr. HydeWhy are these words used? Poole swung the axe over his shoulder; the blowshook the building, and the redbaise door leaped against the lock and hinges. A dismalscreech, as of mere animal terror, rang from the cabinet. Up went the axe again, and again the panels crashed and the frame bounded; four times the blow fell; but the wood was tough and the fittings were of excellent workmanship; and it was not until the fifth, that the lock burst in sunder and the wreck of the door fell inwards on the carpet.
