Lexington Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® 2012 Grants we have funded: Kentucky Pink Connection: $100,000 The Kentucky Pink Connection trained navigators will help connect women with healthcare providers, community resources and existing programs for support with screenings, treatment funds, clinical trials, post mastectomy supplies, wigs, lymphedema sleeves, transportation, medications, support groups and personal needs. Lexington-Fayette County Health Department: $25,000 Will to increase the number of woman who receive breast cancer screening, diagnostic and treatment services within Komen Lexington’s 58 counties by in-house services. King’s Daughters Medical Center (Ashland): $52,340 This grant is designed to provide screening mammography, breast cancer risk assessments, education on how to reduce your risk for breast cancer and education about breast self-exam within rural eastern KY counties such as Boyd, Carter, Elliot, Greenup, Lawrence, Martin, Pike and Wolf. St. Elizabeth Medical Edgewood: $28,500 This program will reduce financial and access barriers to breast health care for under and un-insured women in those counties by providing education, no-cost screening mammograms, clinical breast exams, and any needed follow-up care such as diagnostic mammograms, ultra sound and/or biopsy. North Central Area Health Education Center (NC AHEC): $4,500 This program provides needed Spanish-language breast health education, advocacy, and a bridge to screening services for Hispanic women. American Cancer Society Hope Lodge: $10,000 The grant will be used for the continued implementation and expansion of patient lodging to reduce the number of individuals who die from Breast Cancer in Kentucky and to improve the quality of life of cancer patients both during and after their care. St. Joseph Breast Center: $10,000 Saint Joseph Breast Center will actively pursue opportunities to provide information about the importance of self-breast exam, yearly clinical examination and mammography. St. Claire Regional Medical Center: $10,000 St. Claire Regional will provide community outreach services, breast health information, breast screening vouchers for mammography, ultrasounds, referrals and assistance with the existing transportation Madison County Health Department: $10,000 Madison County Health Department has a strong commitment to the medically underserved women in our community. Assuring that these women have access to breast health screening and referral services is an integral part of our health department's clinic mission.
Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital: $12,660 Our Lady of Bellefonte is making screening mammograms available to low income, uninsured clients in rural Eastern Kentucky at the Women's Health Center on the hospital campus and on the Mobile Mammography Center. Saint Joseph Martin: $13,899 Yes, Mamm! Breast Health Program is to increase awareness, education, detection and treatment in breast health to medically underserved women in the community of Floyd County. Pattie A. Clay Regional Medical: $300 Pink Promise will help women stay healthy by screening for breast cancer, providing follow-up services, professional education, public education, outreach, and quality assurance. Marcum and Wallace: $6,157 PROJECT COPE will provide a comprehensive approach to breast cancer education, screening, treatment, and support. The goals of the program are to provide breast cancer education to the uninsured/underinsured population of KY.
